Drum full of cement yields body
MANILA, Philippines–A routine patrol led to a gruesome discovery before dawn on Sunday in Quezon City.
The body of a still unidentified man was found inside a drum filled with cement in Barangay (village) Sta. Monica, Novaliches, according to a report reaching the Quezon City Police District’s (QCPD) Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit.
The discovery was made by barangay public safety officials Joselito Aguilar and Jonathan Pelo at 3:35 a.m. as they were on a routine patrol.
They were driving on Santiago Avenue when they smelled something foul and traced it to a blue plastic drum filled with cement at the corner of Ciriaco Street. Using a hammer to crack the surface, the duo first uncovered a man’s foot.
An autopsy later showed that the victim’s body bore multiple stab wounds. He was described as being in his early 30s, dressed in a black jacket and plaid shorts, and with a tattoo on his chest that read “Noah Vanjo 128.”
In a phone interview, Supt. Norberto Babagay of the QCPD Station 4 said that as of Sunday afternoon, no one had come forward to claim the body.
