The Philippine Normal University (PNU), originally known as the Philippine Normal School, was established by virtue of Act No. 74 of the Philippine Commission. After formally opening on Sept. 1, 1901, it became the Philippine Normal College in 1949 and was elevated into a full-fledged state university in 1992. The main campus of PNU is on Taft Avenue, Manila, with branches in Agusan del Sur, Isabela, Negros Occidental and Quezon provinces.–Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
