CAMARINES SUR—An elderly German national was found dead and hanging by the neck in his apartment in Masbate City early Friday, police said.
PO3 Zandro Cabintoy, public information officer of the Masbate Provincial Police Office, said Rolf Joseph Jeub Grabowitz, 69, was found by neighbors hanging from a beam above the stairs in his apartment in Barangay Nursery around 2:25 a.m.
Neighbors told police that Grabowitz, who was living alone, might have been suffering from depression after being diagnosed with terminal stage cancer of the nose at the Aquinas Hospital in Legazpi City in June last year.
Investigation showed Grabowitz, who was married and a native of Oberursel, Germany, moved to Masbate City in June 2013. He did not have a job in the city.
Grabowitz’s body underwent post-mortem examination while police were still trying to establish contact with his family.
