Abu Sayyaf men snatch rural health worker in Sulu–report

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines–Suspected Abu Sayyag bandits have snatched a rural health worker in Panglima Estino, Sulu, officials said.

Dr. Raden Ikbala of the Sulu Integrated Provincial Health Office said that Lailani Bernabe was on her way to work when snatched in Barangay (village) Libug Kabaw in the said town around 10 a.m. Thursday.

The Anti Kidnapping Group said Bernabe was a midwife assigned at the district hospital in Luuk town.

Chief Insp. Arthur Valdez of the AKG said Bernabe was believed to have been brought to Barangay Bagsak in Talipao town.
