ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Three persons were seriously wounded in an explosion that occurred inside a junkshop in Barangay (village) Justina here around 11 a.m. Thursday, the police said.
Senior Superintendent Edwin De Ocampo, acting city police director, said police bomb experts were still analyzing what had caused the explosion.
“Right now, we cannot say if the explosion was caused by vintage or other types of bomb,” De Ocampo said.
Chief Inspector Felix Martinez, Sta. Maria police station chief, said workers of the Curuan Junkshop – owned by Marilyn Go – were moving scrap metal from a small truck to a bigger one for delivery to Iligan City when the explosion occurred.
Junkshop workers Jayson Orquija, Michael Ebol and Oscar Carabanes were injured, he said.
