Palace appeals for fairness in tackling impeachment raps vs Aquino
MANILA, Philippines – Malacañang on Tuesday said it is banking on the “sense of fairness” of the House of Representatives as it tackles impeachment complaints filed against President Benigno Aquino III.
“Nananalig naman po kami sa kakayahan ng ating mga mambabatas, sa kanilang paggamit ng katuwiran at sa kanilang sense of fairness na sila ay na gagawin po nila ang nararapat sa kanilang pagaaral ng mga panukalang ito,” Communications Secretary Herminio “Sonny” Coloma Jr. said in an interview with Radyo Inquirer 990AM.
(We trust the ability of our lawmakers, their use of reason and their sense of fairness that they will do what is right as they study such proposals.)
The House committee on justice is tackling on Tuesday the three impeachment raps filed against the President.
Committee chairperson Iloilo Representative Niel Tupas Jr. earlier said that they deferred meeting until after the holidays to give committee members enough time to study the complaints.
