Orlando “Orly” Navarro, 54, said he just alighted from a tricycle at 12:40 a.m. when he heard a gunshot. “Then, I felt a thud on my back. I knew I was hit,” Navarro told the Inquirer by telephone.
Navarro is a commentator and station manager of dwIZ News Radio here. He was formerly president of the Pangasinan Press and Radio Club.
Navarro said he immediately asked the tricycle driver to take him to the nearest hospital.
He said he will undergo surgery Tuesday so doctors can remove from his upper left back the bullet that nearly pierced his heart.
Police were still determining the motive behind the shooting.
