500 cops deployed for rallies

MANILA, Philippines–Police on Sunday urged protesters to maintain peace during their rally on Monday against the pork barrel and the amendment of the Constitution at Rizal Park in Manila.

The Manila Police District said it would deploy 500 policemen to Luneta for the big rally and to the Chino Roces Bridge (Mendiola) area near Malacañang, where there will be another rally against the pork barrel.

The National Capital Region Police Office said it would deploy officers to the two rally sites to help keep the peace.–Reports from Nathan M. Melican and Maricar B. Brizuela
