In 2006 and 2010, he shared in the recognition of the Best Opinion Page Awards given to Cebu Daily News by the Philippine Press Institute.

“Cartoonists should help educate and inform the public,”  he said.

“As a cartoonist, I marry creativity with my political statements to make my cartoons effective.”

He drew the cartoon above to accompany CDN’s editorial on the proposed “Anti-Tabloid Ordinance.”

Elevera was a part-time cartoonist for the Negros Chronicle and the Dumaguete Inquirer beginning in his second year of studying architecture at the Polytechnic College-Central Visayas. In 1994, he joined The Freeman as a cartoonist. He also works as creative director for a Manila-based magazine today. /Copy Editor Jason A. Baguia
