MANILA, Philippines — The public is warned against heavy rains, strong winds, lightning and possible flashfloods as the state weather bureau issued a thunderstorm alert in Metro Manila and nearby provinces on Tuesday afternoon.

“Thunderstorm is affecting Metro Manila (Cubao, Marikina, Valenzuela, North Caloocan, Las Piñas), Rizal (Rodriguez, San Mateo, Antipolo, Cupang), Zambales (Sta. Cruz, San Marcelino), Tarlac (Mayantoc, San Jose) & portions of Bulacan and Cavite which may persist within two hours,” the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration issued at 3 p.m.

The thunderstorm is likely to continue in the next two hours.

Pagasa said in its weather bulletin that there is no weather disturbance in the Philippine area of responsibility but the whole country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Netizens, meanwhile, took their worries to Twitter.
