4.1 quake hits off Davao region

MANILA, Philippines—A 4.1 magnitude earthquake struck off Davao region at 9:07 p.m. Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.

The quake, which centered 124 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos in Davao Occidental, has a depth of 47 kilometers.

The Philippines sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire” where continental plates collide causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
