MANILA, Philippines—A waterspout was seen Saturday afternoon over Manila Bay, a netizen told INQUIRER.net.
Joel Butuyan in a phone interview said he saw a waterspout forming in Manila Bay around 5:30 p.m.
Butuyan said he observed an unusual formation over the water which he said seemed like a tornado.
The weather phenomenon lasted for around seven minutes but disappeared when heavy rains started to pour, he said.
He posted a photo of the watersprout travelling over Manila Bay on Facebook.
Milady Ponsones of Cavite City also contributed photos showing the waterspout.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration , meanwhile, said in a phone interview that it did not monitor any weather phenomenon in Manila Bay.
Pagasa, however, was quick to say there was nothing to worry since waterspouts usually occur during a thunderstorm and would quickly disappear.
On Saturday evening, some parts of Metro Manila particularly in Manila experienced heavy downpour.
