LPA east of Luzon enhances habagat

MANILA, Philippines—The low pressure area (LPA) spotted east of Luzon maintained its strength but would continue to enhance the southwest monsoon or “habagat,” the state weather bureau said Saturday.

As of Saturday morning, the LPA was spotted 560 kilometers east northeast of Casiguran, Aurora, weather observer Benjie de Paz of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration told INQUIRER.net.

Paz said the LPA was not expected to develop into a tropical depression or make landfall.

In its Saturday forecast, the state weather bureau said Metro Manila and the rest of the country would be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Western and Central Visayas, Caraga and Northern Mindanao including the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Palawan and Mindoro would have light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.
