Man holds hostage 2 relatives in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines–A  man held hostage two of his relatives Friday morning inside their house in Baesa, Quezon City, police said.

Senior Inspector Maricar Taqueban, Public Information, Officer of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), identified the hostage taker as Melvin Medina.

Medina, who was armed with a bladed weapon according to Taqueban, held hostage around 9 a.m. Doroteo Gerubin and Marvin Caag on Maxima Street in Villa Matilde Subdivision.

According to Taqueban, operatives of the QCPD were negotiating with the hostage taker.
