MANILA, Philippines–A low pressure area was spotted east of Luzon on Friday, but it is not expected to develop into a tropical depression, the state weather bureau said.
Should the LPA become a tropical depression, however, it will be locally named “Kanor,” the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
Pagasa said Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms on Friday.
Parts of the Visayas and of Mindanao will have light to moderate rains, Pagasa added.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over northern Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere winds, coming from the south to southwest, will be light to moderate and the seas will be slight to moderate.
