National Artist for Music Lucrecia Kasilag died on Aug. 16, 2008. A multi-awarded composer and performing artist, Kasilag was also a known educator. She taught at St. Scholastica’s College, Assumption College, University of the Philippines’ College of Music and Philippine Women’s University where she was the dean of the College of Music and Fine Arts from 1953 to 1977. She also served as president of the Cultural Center of the Philippines and National Music Council and chair of the League of Filipino Composers.
