Majority of Filipinos think Senate probe on pork barrel scam unfair—Pulse Asia

Pulse Asia Research’s June 2014 Nationwide Survey on the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) Scam.

MANILA, Philippines—Majority of Filipinos think that the investigation done by the Senate on the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) or the pork barrel scam was unfair as it only those belonging to the opposition were subjected to it, a recent poll of Pulse Asia said.

In the survey conducted from June 24- July 4, 2014 and released Thursday, 53 percent of the 1200 respondents think that the investigation spared allies of the administration.

Three senators, Juan Ponce Enrile, Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., Jinggoy Estrada, are currently detained as they are facing plunder and graft charges on their alleged involvement on the PDAF scam.

The survey also showed that 90 percent of the respondents know the personalities involved in the “pork barrel” scam. Yet, it was also revealed that 44 percent of the respondents admitted that they only know little about the issue.

Also, the survey revealed that 34 percent of the respondents believe that SOME of the names listed are believably involved in the PDAF scam, while 30 percent think that MOST of the names listed are believably involved in the PDAF scam.
