On openness to 2nd term: Is Aquino just trying to save LP?

MANILA, Philippines – It’s not true that President Benigno Aquino III wants to extend his term because the Liberal Party does not have a strong presidential candidate for 2016, Malacañang said Thursday.

“Ang pokus ng pangulo ay reporma (The focus of the President is reform),” Communications Secretary Herminio “Sonny” Coloma Jr. said when asked if it was a diversionary tactic on the part of Aquino to consider extending his term by amending the Philippine Constitution.

Amid some online groups’ clamor for Aquino’s term extension or reelection, Coloma repeatedly said that the President is listening to the voice of his bosses.
