5 dead, 7 wounded in grenade attack on beer joint

San Fernando City, Pampanga—Five people were killed while seven others were wounded after two men lobbed a hand grenade at a videoke bar in La Paz, Tarlac, on Tuesday night, police said.

Reports from the Central Luzon police office here said Rebecca Pineda, Edwin Bernardo, Maria Theresa Labagala and Ronaldson Abello died while being taken to the La Paz Medicare Hospital in the town.

A man identified only as Kim died at the Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center in Cabanatuan City on Wednesday, police said.

Two of the wounded were minors. The victims were workers, patrons and bystanders in the videoke bar in Barangay San Isidro.

Police said the suspects, who were on a motorcycle, stopped in front of the videoke bar and threw the grenade at about 8:20 p.m. Investigators have invited the bar owner for questioning to determine what may have prompted the attack. Tonette Orejas, Inquirer Central Luzon
