MANILA, Philippines–It’s back to school for these law enforcers.
A total of 95 police officers will undergo a two-week field training supervisory seminar to prepare them for the responsibility of guiding 893 new recruits.
In an ambush interview at the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) headquarters on Monday, Director Carmelo Valmoria said that after their training, the 95 police officers would be in charge of supervising the new police recruits who would be deployed to crime-prone areas in the metropolis later this month.
According to him, the recruits, who will be unarmed, will be assigned for six months to selected police stations, particularly those situated in “areas where crime incidents have been seen to be fluctuating.”
Valmoria said for the duration of their deployment, the recruits would help beef up “police presence” as they “focus on patrolling, traffic and on investigation.”
Afterward, the new recruits will go back to school and be evaluated on their fitness to be admitted on a permanent basis into the Philippine National Police, the NCRPO chief added.
But should they be allowed to join the PNP, they would be assigned to the NCRPO’s Regional Public Safety Battalion, he said.
