Jobstreet to sponsor Cebu job fair

The online job portal Jobstreet will sponsor another job fair in Cebu in June 23 to follow-up on their campaign in the ongoing Cebu Career Hub which ends on May 25.

In a roundtable conference held at the Crown Regency Hotel and Towers last Friday, Jobstreet marketing director Yoda Buyco said there are 1,300 job openings in Cebu and the rest of Central Visayas.

The Cebu Career Hub, she said, was joined by 50 employers and drew 5,000 job seekers of which 100 were hired on the spot.

Buyco said Jobstreet also expanded their operations to Southeast Asian countries like Singapore, India, Japan and Thailand.

At present, Buyco said they have over 32,000 job offers across the country, the bulk of which cover information technology, engineering and customer service.

“Jobstreet is still the first and only one-stop career center in the archipelago,” she said.

Founded in 1997, Buyco said their list of job openings covers the provinces of Leyte, Bohol, Negros, and Iloilo, aside from Cebu and Metro Manila.

Buyco said the June 23 Cebu job fair to be held at the Cebu SM Trade Hall will draw in 60 companies.

She also said Jobstreet plans to bring their job fairs to college campuses in Cebu, where they will train graduates on how to ace job interviews and write resumes.
