Baby needs liver transplant

Aloysius John Borja

MANILA, Philippines–One-year-old Aloysius John Borja was originally set to be operated on in Taiwan but due to a change in plans, he will be the first baby to undergo surgery, a liver transplant, at St. Luke’s Medical Center Global City anytime this month.

“The original price was between P4 million and P5 million but with the change of venue, this was lowered to P2.5 million,” Dianne Jean Borja, Aloysius’ mother, told the Inquirer. Her son suffers from biliary atresia.

Dianne said the surgery team would be headed by Dr. Allan Concejero, the same Filipino doctor who would have operated on her baby in Taiwan.

Doctors have pronounced her baby’s condition as stable with Aloysius ready to undergo surgery, she added.

“We already have P1.5 million courtesy of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. With God’s grace and the kindness of your readers, we are hoping to raise the remaining P1 million that we need for the operation,” she said.

Dianne can be reached at 0908-8100265 for more information. Donations can be coursed through her son’s BPI account (Aloysius John Borja # 001764-0281-27) or BDO (# 000900625597).
