Indian-Filipino trader shot dead in Dagupan

DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan, Philippines – An Indian-Filipino businessman was shot and killed by two men in Barangay Bulosan here on Sunday, police said.

Police said Raja Mirchandani, 35, owner of the Maya Emporium, one of the oldest business establishments here, was on the back seat of his car and was being driven out of the Sarmenta Village when he was attacked by four men on two motorcycles at 8:45 a.m.

A witness said that when the back-riders of the motorcycles began firing at the car, Mirchandani got out and tried to run. The gunmen, who were armed with a 9mm pistol and an Armalite rifle, chased and shot him.

Mirchandani died instantly from bullet wounds to the head.

Edwin Ferrer, Mirchandani’s driver, was hit in the stomach and was taken to a hospital here.
