Batangas cop shot dead
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – A policeman assigned in Batangas City was shot dead while his companion was wounded on Sunday morning.
Police Officer 2 Rowen Clerigo reportedly died on the spot after he was shot by the suspect identified as Michael Hernandez.
Inspector Mary Torres, Batangas police information officer, said in a phone interview that witnesses saw Clerigo arguing with Hernandez in Barangay (village) Concepcion, Batangas City around 10:30 a.m.
Hernandez suddenly drew his gun and shot the cop. Clerigo was on duty when killed.
“It still wasn’t clear yet what they were arguing about or how exactly they were related with each other,” Torres said.
Hernandez, a civilian, has relatives in the police force, according to Torres.
