Singson, Tabal collar 15k titles

Southwestern University’s (SWU) Mary Joy Tabal wrapped up her weekend with another title as she won the 15-kilometer crown of the “Hunat Sugbo:Dagan Para Ni Maning” yesterday at the Ayala Center Cebu Terraces.

Tabal, who also ruled last Saturday’s 2nd SRP Sun Down 15K run, clocked 1 hour and 26 seconds to top the women’s side. Her time was better than Saturday’s run, where she clocked 1:04:01.

Cristy Tutor finished second again with a time of 1:10:31. Tutor finished second to Tabal in the SRP Sundown Run. Veteran runner Madelyn Carter wound up third with a time of 1:11:22.

Adonis Singson topped the men’s division by clocking 52:33.14.

It was Singson’s fourth win this year. Bonifacio Monjas placed second (52:38.01) while Riez Enriquez finished third (53:41.86.)

Jess Gonzaga and Mary Grace Delos Santos also grab two wins over the weekend after both topped the 5k division yesterday.

Gonzaga finished with a time of 17:21:72 while Delos Santos clocked 20:13.09. They also won in the SRP race.

Organizers and the family of the late president of Parklane International Hotel Manuel Ting were overwhelmed with the massive support given to them. The run, which was meant to seek justice for their slain leader, drew some 1,400 runners.

“We are very overwhelmed by the people’s support and we are very thankful for the Ting family,” said Parklane International Hotel General Manager Cenelyn Manguilimotan. “We are very encouraged and motivated to continue this run. Hopefully, if justice is served, we will make this a memorial run.”
