Twinkill for Ave Maria in CBA
THE AVE MARIA Sanctuary and Park had a coup yesterday as their juniors and seniors squads won their respective matches in the M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Basketball Association (CBA) yesterday at the Cebu Coliseum.
The older squad got off their stint in the semifinals to a rousing start after they eked past Talisay, 90-89. Their junior counterparts, on the other hand, had a way easier time disposing of the Pier One-Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles, 87-69, in their elimination round encounter.
Jercules Tangkay led the seniors team with 24 points as they took advantage of Talisay’s free-throw struggles down the stretch to come away with the crucial victory.
Manny Gabas and Alex Cainglet each had 15 to help the cause.
Ferdinand Lusdoc led the way for Talisay with 27 points but missed a crucial free-throw with seconds remaining in the game that would have tied the count at 88-all.
