MANILA, Philippines–One of the complainants in the plunder case filed against Vice President Jejomar Binay and his son for the alleged overpriced construction of a 12-story parking building in Makati City will go on a nationwide tour to speak about the case.

This was revealed Sunday by Binay’s spokesman Joey Salgado, who said the complainants in the case were “apparently well-funded.”

In a statement, Salgado said Renato Bondal would soon start his nationwide speaking tour in the Visayas and visit key cities in Regions 6, 7 and 8.

“The Bondal road show is nothing more than a circus of lies. That he will be visiting the Visayas region, the first of several stops in a planned nationwide tour, also shows that his group has graduated from local opponents to a well-funded demolition crew,” Salgado said.

He said the group of Bondal had “leveled up” because when before it has been spreading lies against the Binays in Makati only, now it was going to do it nationwide.

Salgado echoed the earlier denial of Binay and Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay that there was overpricing in the construction of “Building 2 of the Makati City hall.

Last month, Bondal and Nicolas Enciso IV of Save Makati Movement filed a plunder case against the Binays and 23 other active and former city officials for the alleged P1.56-billion overpriced construction of the building, which houses both extended offices of city hall and some floors for parking spaces.

The Vice President earlier said that the plunder complaint had no legal or factual leg to stand on and was optimistic it would be dismissed.

Binay, who had long announced his plans to seek the presidency in 2016, has blamed politics for the plunder case and had also linked a “national personality” to be behind the case.–Christine O. Avendaño
