Palace CARP order unenforced
LUCENA CITY, Philippines—A farmer leader in Quezon province’s Bondoc Peninsula area assailed the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) for its failure to start the distribution of the 1,700-hectare Hacienda Matias in San Francisco town two months after Malacañang gave the order to do so under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).
Maribel Luzara, head of Kilusang Magbubukid ng Bondoc Peninsula, said “the long waiting period is torturing the farmers.”
“What is taking them so long?” said Luzara.
Luzara said that if DAR would not start the land distribution, she would return to Malacañang and personally complain to President Aquino about the inaction of Agrarian Reform Secretary Virgilio de los Reyes. Delfin T. Mallari Jr., Inquirer Southern Luzon
