Just on a ‘logistics run,’ says AFP

MANILA, Philippines–The Armed Forces of the Philippines said the light armored vehicles seen escorting several military trucks in Tondo, Manila, on Thursday should not be mistaken for signs of a coup plot as the vehicles were just on a “logistics run.”

“We brought supplies from the pier to Camp Aguinaldo,” said Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala, chief of the AFP Public Affairs Office.

Zagala did not elaborate on the kinds of military shipments but said  these were “mission-essential equipment.”

“It was fully coordinated and authorized. That’s normal. We always have logistics run every day. Nothing to worry about,” he said.

Zagala said the usual logistics run meant that the AFP was active in doing its job.
