Cainta cop held in Manila for ‘tasing’ his ex-worker

MANILA, Philippines–A policeman from Rizal province has been placed in detention by members of the Manila Police District after a Manila resident accused him of abduction, illegal detention and torture that included being shot with a Taser gun.

Jonathan Daquiz of San Andres went to the MPD headquarters on Wednesday to lodge complaints against SPO3 Glenn Bullecer, who is reportedly assigned to Cainta, Rizal, and the owner of an LPG supply outlet in San Andres where Daquiz previously worked.

Daquiz claimed that Bullecer abducted him around 11 p.m. Tuesday in San Andres and detained him in his private car for four hours, during which he was handcuffed and repeatedly tased.

MPD investigator PO3 Elmer Revita said that prior to the alleged abduction, Bullecer’s wife accused Daquiz of spreading rumors about her in the neighborhood, prompting a retaliation from her husband.

When she spotted Daquiz outside their home late Tuesday, she reported it to Bullecer who then approached his former employee and forced him into his red sedan.

During his ordeal, Daquiz said, the police officer warned him not tell authorities about it.

Revita said Daquiz showed up Wednesday with two “tase marks” on the left side of his torso.

According to the investigator, Daquiz used to work at Bullecer’s shop and that the two had an earlier argument about the former’s last salary.

Bullecer arrived at the MPD headquarters five hours after Daquiz lodged the complaints, saying he was informed that the police were searching for him.

He was then held in detention and remained in MPD custody at press time Thursday.
