Four fraternity members were arrested after they were caught performing hazing rites on two new members in barangay Cabancalan, Mandaue City, last Monday afternoon.
Police said Roberto Querobin, 19; Benjie Benue, 23; Vernon Victorio, 19; and Romel Bula, 23—all from Lapu-Lapu City—are members of the Alpha Kappa Rho fraternity.
A concerned citizen called the police to report an ongoing initiation rites in a vacant lot.
Police rushed to the area and caught the four men striking Alex Colina, 19, and Tisa Longcop, 19, with a paddle.
Police said Colina and Longcop, who are students of a computer school in Mandaue, had bruises in the back of their thighs.
Police seized two black wooden paddles, a blue notebook and two handkerchiefs.
The four fraternity members will be charged for physical injuries and violation of the anti-hazing law, said police.
