BOY HIT BY BUS, DIES

AN 8-YEAR-OLD boy was killed after he was hit by a Ceres bus while crossing a road shortly before noon yesterday in Dalaguete town, southern Cebu.

Andrei Villahermosa Jancinal of barangay Banhigan came from Banhigan Primary School and was heading home for lunch when the accident occurred at 11:45 a.m.

SPO1 Ethel Teves of the Dalaguete police station said the boy suddenly crossed the highway when he was hit by a Ceres Bus with plate number GWN-818.
The boy sustained multiple injuries in the body. He was pronounced dead at the Cardinal Rosales Hospital in Dalaguete.

Jerry Tagalog, the bus driver, surrendered to the police station in the next town of Argao.

Tagalog, 48, of Zamboangita, Negros Oriental, said he did not notice the boy cross because of a tricycle in front of the bus.

Tagalog said the boy suddenly crossed and it was too late for him to step on the brakes.

Tagalog said the bus was running at normal speed. He said he did not immediately stop for fear that people would lynch him.

Tagalog said he has been with the bus company for 10 years.

MANDAUE WORKER NABBED FOR SHABU

A JOB-ORDER employee of Mandaue City was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation at dawn Tuesday.

Roy Rodriguez, 43, allegedly sold a pack of suspected shabu worth P300 to a poseur buyer when operatives of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group arrested him around 4 a.m. on San Antonio Street in barangay Alang-Alang, Mandaue.

Another sachet of suspected shabu and P300 in marked money were seized from Rodriguez after the arrest, said police.

Rodriguez is assigned at the Janitorial and Security Service Unit.

City Administrator James Abadia said Rodriguez may face termination if the allegations against him are proven true.

Police said charges for selling illegal drugs will be filed against Rodriguez./REPORTER JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS

MAN SHOOTS, INJURES PA

A 75-YEAR-OLD man was critically wounded after he was shot by his 45-year-old son following  an argument in barangay Bangkal, Lapu-Lapu City.

Vicente Pahugot was shot in the face.

Pahugot was confined at the Mactan Dcotors’ Hospital.

The suspect, Romeo Pahugot, fled after the shooting, said police.

Police said other family members showed little interest in filing charges against Romeo.

Police said that around 8 a.m. last Monday, Romeo saw his father cutting trees in a lot that they do not own.

Romeo reprimanded Vicente. An argument ensued.

Romeo went home and took a gun.

Romeo went back to his father and shot him once, said police.
