The highly successful Run For Life of Saint Peter Memorial Services will have its second edition on Oct. 23 starting at the Asiatown IT Park.
Its inaugural race held last Oct. 24, 2010 managed to gather 3,000 runners because of its cheap registration fee of P50.
But this time around, the event will have a higher fee of P200 to be able to raise funds for the less fortunate children in Cebu’s public schools.
The fee is still a bit lower compared to some other races.
“We still make it cheap so that everyone can enjoy,” said Saint Peter Life Plans Ayala branch manager Ging Delantar during yesterday’s formal launching at the Saint Peter Mega Chapel along Imus Road.
Race directors Kenneth Casquejo and Annie Neric of Runcheck were also present during the launching.
The Cebu race will be held simultaneously with races of other branches of Saint Peter Memorial in Manila at the SM Mall of Asia and in the Abreeza Mall in Davao. This is held in line with Saint Peter’s National Death Care Week.
“We still do not know what running events will get in our way but it was already confirmed by our sources, however we are confident that we can reach our desired number of runners,” said Casquejo, regarding rumors that there will be other races that will be held on the same day here in Cebu.
The running event will have 3-kilometer, 5k and 10k categories.
Registration sites are at the Saint Peter Mega Chapel, Nike Park in Ayala Active Zone and in RUNNR Ayala Center Cebu. Registration ends on Oct. 16.
Winners in the 10k will get P7,000 while the 5k winners will receive P5,000. P3,000 will be given to the top finishers in the 3k run.
