Villar: Nacionalista Party might not support Aquino impeachment
MANILA, Philippines–-The impeachment complaints against President Benigno Aquino III might not get the support of the Nacionalista Party (NP), which is still in coalition with the administration, Senator Cynthia Villar said on Wednesday.
Villar is the wife of NP president Manny Villar whom Aquino beat in the 2010 elections. The group has 25 members in the House of Representatives and six in the Senate, including Mrs. Villar.
“I don’t think the NP will support (the impeachment complaints),” Mrs. Villar told reporters.
Though the NP has no official stand yet on Aquino’s impeachment complaints, the lady senator noted that the group stills belongs to the administration coalition.
“Hindi pa sila nag-uusap but I would think ‘yun ang stand nila. Hindi ko pa alam kasi walang naguusap du’n kasi even the ones who filed (the complaints) said it will be very difficult,” she said.

“Of course every person kahit you belong to a party at may personal decision ka ,parati namang ia-allow ka to make your own personal decision. But as a whole, tingin ko naman they will support the President pero syempre kung may mga member kami who feel strongly about certain issues we allow naman them to exercise their own prerogative,” she said.

Three impeachment complaints have been filed against Aquino over the Disbursement Acceleration Program and the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement.
