Aquino praises Roxas during Sona

MANILA, Philippines–President Benigno Aquino III in his fifth State of the Nation Address (Sona) lauded Interior Secretary Mar Roxas for the achievements of the Philippine National Police (PNP) which is under the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Aquino said the crime statistics dipped 29 percent in the National Capital Region alone.

He added that the PNP was able to confiscate at least 29 firearms from unauhorized owners.

He also said 587 warrants of arrest were served over illegal ownership of weapons.

The President also praised the police for house-to-house to check on the illegal authorization of guns.

“Tunay nga po ang tiwala at pundasyon ng mabuting pamamahala,” Aquino said after showing in his power point presentation a photo of Roxas, who is perceived as his presidential bet come 2016.

Roxas was supposed to be the Liberal Party’s presidential bet in 2010 until he gave way to Aquino as the party’s standard-bearer.
