261 members attend reopening of House of Representatives

MANILA, Philippines — At least 261 of 290 members of the House of Representatives attended the opening of the second regular session ahead of President Aquino’s fifth State of the Nation Address.

Speaker Feliciano Belmonte headed Monday’s session with the chamber forming a quorum.

Cavite Representative Lani Mercado-Revilla attended the opening of Congress while her husband, Senator Ramon Revilla Jr., remains in jail for plunder over his alleged involvement in the pork barrel scam.
