MANILA, Philippines — There is little chance that a tropical cyclone will develop and enter the country on Monday (July 28), according to the state weather bureau.
As of Sunday, the low pressure area hovering along the country’s eastern seaboard since Thursday was spotted 865 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes.
“Within twenty-four hours, the chances are small that it will develop into a tropical storm,” said weather forecaster Buddy Javier of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Sunday.
“No storm will enter the country” on Monday, Javier added.
Pagasa said the low pressure area would bring light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over the Visayas and Bicol.
Javier said the southwest monsoon affecting the country was weak and would bring isolated rains.
Pagasa said Palawan would experience occasional rains while Visayas and the regions of Bicol, Caraga and Davao as well as the provinces of Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon would be cloudy with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.
On the day of the President’s State of the Nation Address, Metro Manila along with the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.
