MANILA, Philippines — The Sandiganbayan third division has junked the motion for reconsideration of Dennis Cunanan on the court’s denial of his travel motion as he faces pork barrel scam raps.
Clerk of court Atty. Dennis Pulma on Friday said the court denied Cunanan’s motion for reconsideration in a minute resolution dated July 21.
Cunanan, the former director general of the Technology Resource Center (TRC), had asked the court to allow him to go to Japan and the US as secretary general of the Junior Chambers International.
But the court denied his motion, calling him a flight risk as he faces graft charges.
This was the second time his plea was junked. He had also sought to reverse the Sandiganbayan fifth division’s decision to junk his travel motion but his appeal was likewise denied.
Cunanan was accused of using TRC as a conduit to course the lawmakers’ pork barrel funds to Janet Lim-Napoles’ bogus foundations for kickbacks. Napoles is the accused mastermind of the scam.
Cunanan is the government’s provisional state witness, testifying that senators had pressured him to put their pork barrel funds to Napoles’ foundations.
His bid for immunity from charges was denied by the Ombudsman at the height of the investigation.
