Sandigan orders Napoles transfer to Taguig jail

MANILA, Philippines–The Sandiganbayan third division on Friday ordered detained “pork” barrel scam suspect Janet Lim-Napoles to be transferred to a jail in Camp Bagong Diwa, from Fort Sto. Domingo in Laguna.

In a minute resolution, the special anti-graft court ordered Napoles to be transferred to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) female dormitory in Camp Bagong Diwa, where Jessica Lucila “Gigi” Reyes, another accused in the Priority Development Assistance Fund scam, is being detained.

Napoles is facing plunder and graft charges for being the alleged brains behind the P10-billion fund mess.

Under the law, the Sandiganbayan said that those facing trial must be detained at the nearest BJMP-administered jail.

The Sandiganbayan said that Fort Sto. Domingo, a training camp of the Philippine National Police’s Special Action Force, is not a detention facility.
“The said BJMP is hereby directed to cause the immediate transfer from the PNP SAF Training School in Fort Sto. Domingo, Sta. Rosa City, Laguna, to its facility,” the resolution read.

Napoles is detained in Fort Sto. Domingo over a serious illegal detention case involving her former employee and principal whistleblower in the pork barrel case Benhur Luy.
