MANILA, Philippines–Typhoon “Henry” has upped its strength as it continues to move through the Bashi Channel near the Batanes Group of Islands prompting the state weather bureau to maintain the public storm warning signals that have persisted since Monday.
In its 11 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said “Henry” now packs wind speeds of 140 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of 170 kph, from the previous 130 kph wind speeds and 160 kph gusts from the 5 a.m. update.
Pagasa added that “Henry” moves at a pace of 24 kph going northwest.
Batanes Group of Islands is still under public storm warning signal no. 2 while Cagayan, Babuyan Group of Islands, and Calayan Group of Islands are under public storm warning signal no. 1.
“Henry” is expected to drop moderate to occasionally heavy rains over Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and the provinces of Bataan and Zambales.
