4 killed in vehicular smashup in Pampanga

BACOLOR, Pampanga—Four people were killed in a smashup of three vehicles on  Jose Abad Santos Avenue (formerly the Gapan-San Fernando-Olongapo Road) in this town on Saturday,  a police official said.

Chief Inspector Romeo Balubal, Bacolor police chief, said the accident involved a trailer truck, a Toyota Corolla and a public jeepney.

Traffic crawled to a snail’s pace even past 6 p.m. or four hours after the accident because the vehicles remained on the road as the investigation went on.

Balubal said that once the driver responsible for the incident was identified, the police were going to file a case for reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, multiple physical injuries and damage to property against him or her.
