MANILA, Philippines – Tropical storm “Henry” (Matmo) entered the Philippine area of responsibility on Friday morning, but won’t affect the country yet.
As of 7 a.m., Henry was 890 kilometers east of Guiuan in Eastern Samar, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said, hours after it forecast that it would enter country Saturday.
The storm packed maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 80kph.
It is forecast to move north northwest at 7kph.
Henry comes two days after Typhoon “Glenda” (international name: Rammasun) ravaged most of Luzon, including Metro Manila, killing 20 and toppling power lines that caused blackouts in the metropolis and affected provinces.
