MANILA, Philippines— Operations of the Metro Rail Transit-3 were disrupted Thursday afternoon after one of its trains conked out.

A southbound MRT train suddenly stopped at 5:44 p.m. a few meters from the Buendia station.

The operations of the train were partially halted for almost ten minutes.

The train announcer said the MRT experienced a technical problem and it had to switch off its lights and air condition.

MRT spokesperson Atty. Hernando Cabrera said in a text message that a power system glitch hit one of the MRT trains but was immediately fixed and its operation was “normalized” after.

In recent months, the MRT drew fierce criticisms from riders for the long queues at its stations during rush hour and for several operational glitches.
