Army general rejects calls of NPA to stop military ops in Surigao
MANILA, Philippines—An Army general rejected the call of the New People’s Army to stop the military operations in Surigao in order for the rebels to free their captured policemen.
“If they want to release the policemen, they can do it without condition,” Major General Ricardo Visayas, commander of the Army’s 4th Infantry Division, said on Thursday.
He emphasized that there will be no let ups in the military operations against the communist rebels.
Last week, the rebels overran a police station in Alegria town, which left two policemen and two rebels wounded.
The NPA confirmed that they captured four policemen, namely: PO3 Vic Calubag Concon, PO1 Rey O’niel Morales, PO1 Joen B. Zabala at PO1 Edito F. Roquino.
