5 arrested in anti-illegal drug operations in QC

MANILA, Philippines—Five persons were arrested by the Quezon City police on Wednesday in separate anti-illegal drugs operations.

The District Anti-Illegal Drugs – Special Operations Task Group (DAID-SOTG) conducted buy-bust operations at 5:15 p.m. in Kamuning and at 6 p.m. at Gana Compound in Balintawak.

Senior Inspector Roberto Razon Sr., chief of DAID-SOTG, identified the suspects arrested in Kamuning as Ert Maquiling, 30, resident of San Juan City, and Cristeto Castillo, 31, resident of Barangay (village) Immaculate Concepcion, Quezon City.

Maquiling and Castillo were arrested after blocking the police who were chasing a certain Jerry Lappad.

Poseur-buyers were transacting with Lappad when an unidentified man shouted and blew up their cover.

Lappad ran toward Edsa and was able to escape when Maquiling and Castillo stopped the pursuing policemen and asked them, “Why are you chasing him? Who are you?”

Suspecting them to be Lappad’s cohorts, police frisked them and found a .38-cal. revolver in Maquiling’s possession.

In Balintawak, Antonio So III, 31, beautician, resident of Valenzuela City, and Lynn Molino, 20, resident of Caloocan City, were arrested in a buy-bust operation.

Another suspect, Karen Castillo, 41, resident of Gana Compound, was also arrested for possession of suspected shabu (methampethamine hydrochloride).
