Magnitude 6.1 quake hits Davao Occidental

MANILA, Philippines — A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck Davao Occidental Monday afternoon, with aftershocks expected.

The tectonic quake was recorded 88 kilometers southeast of Don Marcelino town at 3:59 p.m., the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said in a bulletin.

The quake had a depth of 10 kilometers.

Intensity IV was felt in Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental while Intensity III was experienced in Glan, Sarangani; Mati City; Davao City; and Don Marcelino and Malita towns in Davao Occidental.

Intensity II was experienced in the cities of General Santos and Digos while Intensity I was felt in M’lang, North Cotabato; and Koronadal and Tupi in South Cotabato.
