MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said it would tighten its watch on model Deniece Cornejo who cut her wrist “in protest” of the dismissal of her rape complaint against actor-host Vhong Navarro, Radyo Inquirer 990am said.

The report said the police would ensure that Cornejo, who was accused by Navarro of illegal detention and grave coercion, wouldn’t able to get hold of sharp objects.

Earlier reports said Cornejo, who is detained at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) office in Camp Crame, was able to make shallow cut on her wrist after she picked up a metal bottle cap.

CIDG spokesperson Chief Inspector Elizabeth Jasmin said roving duty officers have been passing by the former model’s jail cell two times a day.

She pointed out that Cornejo’s cell is near the kitchen and food vendors, which should explain how she got the bottle cap.

Jasmin said the roving guards will keep a closer watch on Cornejo as well as the vendors.
