/ 01:24 AM July 12, 2014

Due to ongoing repairs at the Magallanes Interchange in Makati City, a portion of the southbound lane of South Luzon Expressway will be soon closed to vehicular traffic for up to 10 days, according to an advisory from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority on Friday.

The date for the start of the 10-day closure is yet to be determined pending the issuance of permits from the city government.

The Alabang-bound portion of SLEx, from Manila to Magallanes Interchange, will be affected.

“Once the lane is closed, all southbound and northbound traffic will be diverted to the service road. But a concrete wall blocking a big portion of the service road has to be removed first to clear more space for vehicles,” said MMDA Traffic Engineering Center Director Noemi Recio.

The repairs are part of a Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) project that is expected to be completed by yearend.

Meanwhile, MMDA Chair Francis Tolentino said he had approved the DPWH’s request to extend its repair work schedule at Magallanes Interchange to 24 hours on Sundays.

They are expected to be completed early Monday morning. Maricar B. Brizuela
