MANILA, Philippines—Two soldiers were killed by suspected communist rebels in Compostela Valley early Thursday, the military said.
The two enlisted personnel were on their way to their base when they were shot in Anitapan village in Mabini town around 3 a.m., Captain Ernest Carolina, spokesperson of the Army’s 10th Infantry Division said.
The fatalities were identified only as Privates Teodoro and Pasadao.
The soldiers came from a village fiesta and were unarmed when they were attacked, Carolina said.
