MANILA, Philippines—An accused in the Maguindanao massacre trial has asked the Quezon City Court to allow him to be brought to a hospital again for a repeat examination of a prostate disorder.
Police Officer 3 Alex Daquilos, through his counsel, asked Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes of the Regional Trial Court Branch 221, to allow him to go to Rizal Medical Center in Pasig City to undergo an ultrasound.
In a two-page urgent motion filed this week, Daquilos’ lawyer cited a medical certificate issued by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.
Daquilos had twice been granted a pass out of Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City after he was found to have an epidydimal cyst and dilated blood vessels in the scrotum.
Daquilos has been experiencing soft and painful swelling because of his condition.
The policeman is a member of the Solano group and was among those initially charged for the Nov. 23, 2009 massacre of 58 people, including 32 journalists in Maguindanao during the election period for the hotly contested gubernatorial race in the province.
